Projects to digitise activities related to the agriculture sector in Egypt were discussed today 9 June in a meeting between Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology; and al-Sayed al-Quseir, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation.
The Ministry of Agriculture is joining hands with the Ministry of Communication to develop the agriculture and land reclamation sector using the latest communication and IT technologies.
Among the top priority projects, Dr Talaat explained, are the launching of agriculture and land reclamation services on the Digital Egypt platform; automating the agricultural tenure system; issuing the Farmer’s Card; identifying crops through capitalising on satellite and AI technology; launching Hodhod, the farmers smart assistant; digitising agriculture-related documents; and creating the Ministry of Agriculture’s electronic archive in preparation for relocation to the New Administrative Capital.
During the meeting, the ministers discussed what has been achieved so far on the automation of the Ministry of Agriculture’s services to beneficiaries, including application, follow up, payment, and electronic signature.
It is intended during this year to launch 20 of the services most used by the public on the Digital Egypt platform and the Ministry of Agriculture’s portal.
