The Egyptian Culture Ministry has decided to grant the library of the Coptic Catholic Church in the village of Dalga in Minya, Upper Egypt, some 3,000 books to replenish the llibrary collection which was burned by the Muslim Brotherhood Islamist supporters of the overthrown president Mohammed Mursi last August..
Fr Ayoub Youssef, pastor of the church of St George for Catholic Copts, said that the number of books granted by the Ministry is the same as that of the books the library had lost, which included valuable encychlopaedic volumes in various fields.
The grant, according to Fr Ayoub, came upon a request by the Coptic Catholic Patriarch Bishop Ibrahim Ishac to the Culture Ministry to help restore the Church##s cultural centre which includes the library.
