The charity bazaar held annual by the Asian Diplomats’ Spouses Association (ADSA) in Cairo has this year featured the participation of representatives from 21 countries: Bangladesh, Brunei, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mongolia, Pakistan, Palestine, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, Turkey, Australia and New Zealand, as well as 13 non-governmental organisations (NGO) in Egypt and representatives of the European Union.
The bazaar was opened by Mrs Suzanne Shoukry, wife of the Egyptian FOrign Minister Sameh Shukry. As customary, the Asian embassies sold the traditional handmade products their countries are famous for. The Indian Embassy displayed old Indian pottery; handmade textile; rugs; and Indian saris.
The charity bazaar is held annually to raise funds to help the poor in Egypt, especially women and children.
