The Embassy of Portugal in Cairo, in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, has held of Egypt a photography exhibition under the title “Geres Unfolding” which displayed a collection of paintings by photographer Pedro Costa Gomes. Portugal’s ambassador to Cairo, Madalena Fischer, opened the exhibition on 12 March at the Egyptian Centre for International Cultural Cooperation in Zamalek; the exhibition ran until today 19 March.
The collection on exhibit comprised a set of photos taken in the Peneda-Gerês National Park by the Portuguese photographer Pedro Costa Gomes during the autumn of 2016. This protected area is located in the North border of Portugal.
In this set, Pedro Costa Gomes tries to provide glimpses of an alternative Portugal away from the touristic resorts on the country’s coast and far from any urban centres.
Pedro Costa Gomes is a Portuguese photographer living in Egypt and working freelance for Agence France Presse, National Geographic and International Organizations like the EU and IOM.
