An Egyptian medical convoy headed to Addis Ababa this morning within an expansive plan that involves sending medical convoys to Nile Basin and African States such as Chad, Uganda and Burundi.

The convoy that is scheduled to work in Addis Ababa until 3 March includes a 12-member team specialised in orthopaedics, infection control, ENT and anaesthesia.

The Minister of Health and Population Dr Adel Adawi met the members of the medical convoy before they left to Addis Ababa. He discussed with them their responsibilities and the vital role they are shouldering. Dr Adawi explained that the Egyptian authorities are working to strengthen Egyptian African ties in all fields, including health.

Dr Adawi pointed out that the Ministry of Health has throughout the past years conducted training in Cairo for Ethiopian physicians and surgeons in the fields of cardiology, cardiac surgery, kidney diseases and dialyses.
